Customer booking verification

Reduce no-shows and fake bookings by requiring customers to verify their identity with a one-time code before their booking is confirmed.

Overview

Booking verification adds an extra step where the customer must enter a one-time code (OTP) sent to their email or phone before their appointment is confirmed. This reduces fake bookings and no-shows significantly, since only customers with a real email address or phone number can complete a booking.

Enabling verification

  1. 1.Go to Dashboard → Settings and scroll to Customer Verification.
  2. 2.Choose your verification method:

- None — no verification required (default). - Email OTP — customer receives a 6-digit code by email and must enter it to confirm. Available on Starter and Pro plans. - SMS OTP — customer receives a 6-digit code by text message. Available on Pro plan with the SMS add-on enabled.

  1. 1.Click Save changes.

What the customer experiences

After entering their details in the booking flow, the customer sees an OTP entry screen. They check their email or phone for the code, type it in, and their booking is confirmed. The whole process takes under a minute.

If they don't receive the code, they can click Resend to get a new one.

What you see in the dashboard

Bookings that are waiting for the customer to verify appear with a Pending verification badge in your Bookings list and Calendar. Once the customer enters the correct code, the status changes to confirmed and the booking appears normally.

Pending verification bookings that are not confirmed within 30 minutes do not block the time slot — other customers can book that same slot in the meantime.

The SMS add-on

SMS verification requires the SMS add-on, which is an additional monthly charge on top of your Pro plan subscription. You can enable it from Settings → SMS Verification. The add-on is currently available for businesses in the United States and Canada only.

Tip: Email OTP is free and effective for most businesses. SMS OTP is worth considering if your customers are less likely to check email quickly, or if you have a high rate of missed OTP codes.
